
Sewing and Quilting Camp

Sewing and Quilting Camp is for 7-11 year olds.
Parents drop off their children between 9:45-10 a.m., with the program beginning at 10 a.m. Children are encouraged to dress up in costumes reflective of pioneers and/or early Swedish immigrants.
The camp provides children with an opportunity to enjoy immigrant and pioneer life by with a special focus on sewing and quilting. Children:
- Learn the names of historical quilt blocks
- Make a colorful paper quilt pattern
- Learn how to hand sew their own historical quilt block to take home using squares of fabric, just like the early immigrants/pioneers did
- Design their own 9-inch quilt block
In addition to focusing on sewing and quilting, children:
- Tour each of the historic buildings
- Explore the heirloom gardens and prairie
- Try small pioneer toys including Cup-and-Ball, Jacob’s ladders, Yo-Yo’s, Spinning tops, Marbles, and more
- Play historic games
- Experience a sensory table with historical items
Children bring their own lunch and water bottle.
The cost is $75 and includes all supplies and materials. Register early to guarantee a spot for your child.
