SUMMARY:Canceled: Comin' to Amerika
DESCRIPTION:Come experience what life was like for Swedish immigrants in Minnesota in the 1800s! Children dress up in period clothing and work together to build a new life in Amerika — learning about immigration stories\, honoring Swedish heritage\, engaging in dances and songs\, making crafts\, and touring all the buildings at Gammelgården. \nOpen to children entering first grade through sixth grade. \nChildren should bring their own lunch and water bottle. Lemonade and a snack are provided in the afternoon. \nParents drop off their children between 9:45-10 a.m.\, with the program beginning at 10 a.m. Children are encouraged to dress up in costumes reflective of pioneers and/or early Swedish immigrants. \nThe cost is $60 per child (member)/$80 per child (non-member) and includes all supplies and materials.  \nThe camp is limited to 20 children. Pre-registration is required.  \n

DESCRIPTION:Visit Gammelgården Museum of Scandia at Scandia Farmers Market\n  \nOn four days during the summer at the Scandia Farmers Market\, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. in the Scandia Community Center parking lot\, Gammelgården gives out free activity bags to the first 50 families thanks to the generous support of the Scandia-Marine Lions Club. Each bag has a different theme with hands-on activities\, word finds\, and information about the topic. \nThe four themed activity bags in 2023 are: \n• June 14: Gardening with Heirloom Seeds \n• June 21: Native Wildflower Seed Bombs and Prairies \n• July 19: Bird Feeders \n• August 16: Migrating Monarchs \n
