SUMMARY:Northern Bedrock Replaces Logs in the Pastor's House
DESCRIPTION:Three crews from Northern Bedrock will be replacing between 11-14 logs in the Pastor’s House on the northwest and southeast sides of the building. The logs have rotted from age as well as water damage\, and will be replaced by 14 crew members. \nThe logs will be chain sawed to the approximate size. Once that step is complete\, each log will be hand-hewn\, as the Swedish immigrants did to build the Pastor’s Home in the 1800s. \nThe crews arrive on the 7th\, work from the 8th-14th\, and then pack up and travel back to Duluth on the 15th.

DESCRIPTION:Join a short course where we will combine embroidery with appliqué to finish a small decorative pillow top.  Choose from 1 of 3 apron designs\, each displaying a fabric from the Dalarna area. \n\nIt is said that “clothing is to clothe someone\, but a costume tells a story.”  While stitching our project\, we will learn some fun history of Swedish folk dress. \nSuggested age group:  12 years to adult. Youth 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult. \nMaterials fee of $25 (which is included in the class fee) includes:\n– 10×10” pillow form\n– Fabric for front and back of pillow\n– Trim for belt\n– Embroidery floss\n– 1 needle\n– Pattern \nNatalie Norman has been part of the cultural needlework community for over 20 years\, participating as a vendor\, demonstrator\, and teacher at venues such as Gammelgården Museum\, American Swedish Institute\, and Marine Mills Folk School. Sponsored by the Swedish Embassy in Washington\, DC\, her embroidered work was featured in a traveling exhibition that visited five major American cities and concluded with a 15-month tour in Stockholm\, Sweden. In 2019\, Natalie received a fellowship from the American Scandinavian Foundation to study a traditional form of folk art.
