DESCRIPTION:Create a quilted zipper pouch with a unique zipper application that is easy to sew\, yet looks impressive.  These pouches make wonderful gifts and are perfect for organizing items such as eyeglasses\, phones\, iPads\, pencils\, Kindles\, or even laptops depending on the size you choose. \nUsing three coordinating fabrics and a zipper of your choice\, you’ll construct a pouch with either foam stabilizer for extra protection or cotton batting for a softer feel. The techniques students learn in class can be applied to creating other pouches in many different sizes. \nIn this class\, students will learn how to:\n– Install the zipper featured in the Hemingway Pouch pattern\n– Quilt the pouch layers for durability and structure\n– Apply binding to finish the pouch edges\n– Add optional features such as a pocket or strap\n– Adjust the pouch size to suit different uses \nSkill Level: Confident Beginner \nThe registration link for this class will be posted in May. \nCancellation Policy: Up to 3 weeks before the event – 50% refund. DESCRIPTION:This class with Kris Livingston is for students with beginning and advanced embroidery skills. Students will learn how to design and create unique\, appliquéd greeting cards using machine appliqué and in-the-hoop embroidery techniques. \n \nDuring the class\, students will: \n\nExplore basic and decorative machine embroidery methods.\nLearn how to layer fabrics\, apply appliqué designs\, and add embellishments.\nPersonalize their cards with messages and names.\nComplete at least two cards to take home.\n\nBy the end of the class\, students will have the skills and confidence to create beautiful\, one-of-a-kind cards for holidays\, birthdays\, and special occasions. \nStudents should bring: a sewing machine\, several colors of thread and bobbins\, and scissors. DESCRIPTION:Come and learn how to bind a tiny book using the kettle stitch\, a simple yet effective method that has played a vital role in the history of bookbinding. Bookbinding is the process of physically assembling pages of a book into a finished product. It involves folding\, sewing\, gluing\, and covering the pages to create a durable and aesthetically-pleasing book. \nWe will bind our little book\, cover it\, and create a tiny visual journal along with a decorated Altoid tin to store your book in. \nMonique Vernon has been a paper art instructor since 2019\, teaching classes at Community Thread in Stillwater and making cards for 15 years. \nThe registration link will be posted in June 2026. \nCancellation Policy: Up to 3 weeks before the event – 50% refund. DESCRIPTION:​This three-hour class with Natalie Norman is focused on making an embroidered wrist cuff. (A wrist cuff is used to warm your hands or as an accent piece worn as a bracelet.)\n\nCome with an idea of design choice or begin with one of the patterns that Natalie will have available. We will offer 5-6 basic embroidery stitches enhanced with ideas of combining varied stitches.\n\nSuggested Age: 15 years old to adult. \nThe class fee includes a $20 materials fee. The materials fee includes:\n– Fabric and lining\n– 2 closure buttons\n– Embroidery floss\n– Pattern\n– 1 needle\n– Beads\, if desired\n\n\n\nThe registration link for this class will be posted in May. \nNatalie Norman has been part of the cultural needlework community for over 20 years\, participating as a vendor\, demonstrator\, and teacher at venues such as Gammelgården Museum\, American Swedish Institute\, and Marine Mills Folk School. Sponsored by the Swedish Embassy in Washington\, DC\, her embroidered work was featured in a traveling exhibition that visited five major American cities and concluded with a 15-month tour in Stockholm\, Sweden. In 2019\, Natalie received a fellowship from the American Scandinavian Foundation to study a traditional form of folk art. Courses in fritt broderi at Sätergläntan in Dalarna and påsöm at the Mora Folk School have since deepened her embroidery practice and strengthened her desire to share this passion with others. \nCancellation Policy: Up to 3 weeks before the event – 50% refund. Below is the information that is curent as of March 15\, 2026. \nSpelmansstamman 2025 Poster \n \n  \nMUSIC PERFORMANCES \n\n\n\n\n\nSpelmansstämman is a long-standing Swedish folk music tradition based on outdoor gatherings (stämma) of Swedish musicians (spelman) to share music\, friendship\, and playing. At a traditional stämma\, a small group of musicians share tunes they love and have in common. \nGammelgården’s 36th annual Spelmansstämman will feature multiple musicians performing throughout the day. \nSCHEDULE OF EVENTS  \nCome for the full day – or part of the day.
