DESCRIPTION:This Swedish festival is perhaps the most popular one of the year. Join us at Gammelgården Museum for this outdoor festival celebrating the beauty of the Summer Day. Dating back to ancient times\, Midsommardagen marks the longest day of the year and welcomes back warm weather.\nEnjoy traditional Swedish music\, group folk dancing\, hands-on activities\, vendors fair\, demonstrations by artists\, and\, in the center of it all\, the Majstång/Midsommarstång (May/Midsummer Pole)\, freshly decorated with spring greenery. \nEnjoy a picnic lunch with a wide array of food offered by three food trucks.  \n \nBring a chair and a blanket to enjoy your picnic on the museum grounds. Scavenger hunt sheets (for youth and adults) are available on the second floor of the Välkommen Hus (Welcome House) and focus on the large hanging quilt in the classroom/exhibit space. Visitors can bring completed sheets to the first-floor front desk to receive a small prize.\n \nSwedish and Nordic Yard Games: 10:00-1:00  \nMusic by the Scandia Community Band: 12:15-1:00 \nEntertainment/Program: 1:00-3:00 \n– Procession of U.S. and Swedish Flags Followed by Performers \n– Welcome \n– National Anthems \n– Update about the Restoration of the Pastor’s House at Gammelgården. \n– Music and Stories by Berätta. Berätta\, with Rose Arrowsmith (vocals)\, Renee Vaughan (nyckelharpa)\, and Paul Sauey (guitar)\,  features Swedish folk songs\, stories\, and poetry to celebrate the arrival of midsummer and the sparks of new romance that’ll burn bright all summer.  \n– Folk Dancing by the Vasa Junior Folk Dancers (Children Ages 3-18 Years Old who Preserve Swedish Dance\, Traditions\, and Heritage; and Share Swedish Culture with the Community). \n– Ring Dancing for All!  \nNOTE: Midsommardagen will be held rain or shine. If there is a thunderstorm\, the program will be held indoors at Elim Lutheran Church at 20971 Olinda Trail North.
