SUMMARY:Green Thumb Gardening Group Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Attention Current and Prospective Gammelgården Gardeners: \nJulia Bjorklund\, a Chisago County Master Gardener\, will make a presentation about American home landscape using heirloom historical plants in Minnesota\, from approximately 1850-1900. What might we find in gardens at that time\, and around the location of the current Gammelgården? \nAfterwards\, the gardeners will look at the gardens surrounding the buildings and discuss the vision for each one. Information and instructions about what gardeners can do during the season will be provided. \nLunch is provided at the end of the gathering so there is time to enjoy one another’s company. \nPlease sign up to let us know if you will be attending this gathering. If you know of others who would like to plant\, weed\, water\, and maintain the flower gardens at Gammelgården\, bring them along. Make sure you sign them up so we know they will be attending as well. \n********************************************* \nPresenter’s Bio: \nJulia Bjorklund has been a Chisago County Master Gardener for approximately 20 years. She is a retired real estate appraiser. Her home garden is approximately 50% vegetables and 50% flowers/ornamentals. The vegetables she grows now are primarily in raised beds. Her flower gardening includes roses\, peonies\, clematis\, daylilies\, annuals in containers\, and pollinator gardens with natives. Julia’s biggest challenge is planting and maintaining her gardens around 50+ chickens!
