DESCRIPTION:Learn two easy\, but professional looking\, methods to make zipper pouches. Pouches can be made in any size to hold make-up\, pencils\, craft supplies\, ear buds\, travel items\, toys\, or tools. Create one for yourself or make a custom gift for someone special. \n \nSupply list: (Materials will make at least two pouches.) \n\nSewing machine with a zipper foot.\n¼-yard of outer fabric. You can use a quilting weight or a denim weight fabric.\n¼-yard of lining fabric. Quilting weight fabric recommended.\nOptional: ¼ yard of cotton batting if you want to quilt the outside.\nMatching thread\, scissors\, and pins.\nA chopstick or other point turner.\nZipper. SUMMARY:Applique All-Occasion Greeting Cards with Kris Livingston
DESCRIPTION:Delight recipients with a unique card for holidays\, weddings\, birthdays\, or any other occasion. Fabric applique is sewn directly onto the paper card. Many embellishments can be added. This fun class will include many tips\, ideas\, and even patterns to get you started and inspired. \n \nBy the end of the class\, students will have the skills and confidence to create beautiful\, one-of-a-kind cards for holidays\, birthdays\, and special occasions. \nStudents should bring: a sewing machine\, several colors of thread and bobbins\, and scissors. Fabric\, some threads\, and patterns will be provided. Students are welcome to bring their own fabric scraps for a personal touch. \nSupply list \n\nPack of blank cards and a pack of envelopes (Available at craft stores or paper supply stores.). Kris suggests a neutral color for the cards to bring focus to the appliques.\nAny light to medium fusible interfacing. Double fusible\, such as Wonder-Under is helpful for layered cards.\nA variety of fabrics. Small prints work well.\nFabric marking pen.\nSewing machine with zig zag.\nThread to coordinate with your fabrics. You can use regular thread or decorative thread\, such as Sulky brand.\nBobbin thread to match your cards.\nBasic sewing kit with scissors\, straight pins\, and a seam ripper.\nBasic glue stick. SUMMARY:Fabric-Wrapped Coiled Bowl with Kris Livingston
DESCRIPTION:Create a fun and functional fabric bowl in this beginner-friendly class. Using clothesline and fabric strips\, students will learn how to shape and stitch a three-dimensional bowl on the sewing machine while watching fabric patterns transform as the bowl takes shape. \nLearn how to make adorable bowls using only strips of fabric\, clothesline\, and your sewing machine! Make decorative bowls for your table\, sewing accessories\, or the remote. This is a great project to make for gifts at the holidays or special occasions. Enjoy seeing how fabrics blend as a bowl takes shape. \n \nIn this class\, students learn how to:\n– Wrap fabric smoothly around clothesline.\n– Form a three-dimensional bowl using a sewing machine.\n– Understand how fabric patterns change during the bowl-making process. \nSupply List: Students need to bring to class the following items: \n\nWorking sewing machine with zig zag stitch. \nZig zag foot\, ideally one that allows you to see your stitches.\nTotal of ¾ yard of cotton fabric for a medium bowl. Choose a variety of your favorite coordinating colors. Cut into ¾-inch strips. You do not need to prewash fabrics or cut on the bias. (You can also use yarn or ribbon.) \nBasic sewing thread in colors to match your fabrics.  \nSize 14 or 16 universal needle. \n50 feet or more of clothesline. (See below) \nSmall quilt clips or clothespins. \nTool such as a stylus or chopstick to push your bowl as it forms. \nBasic school glue stick. \nScissors\, pins\, small ruler\, and seam ripper. \n\nBefore Class Prep:   \n\nCut your fabric into ¾-inch strips. \nWind two bobbins to match the thread(s) you will use. \n\nWhere to find clothesline:  \n\nOption 1- Purchase 3/16-inch or ¼-inch diameter clothesline from a hardware store. Choose cotton or a cotton/polyester blend. Choose one without a plastic core. \nOptions 2- Purchase 100% cotton clothesline made for crafts.
