Message from Jim Thorson, Museum Board President

The following message was shared at the October 1st Life Member event at Gammelgården Museum:

Volunteers have been and always will be a critical part of our success. Every volunteer brings something unique and meaningful to the museum. We have a need for board members as well as many other positions. If you are able, or know someone who is a good fit, please let us know.As we talk about volunteers, I want to express my thanks to our most active volunteer – Lynne Moratzka. For the last 1 1/2 years, she has held the director position as a volunteer. Without her commitment, we would not be where we are today. Thank you, Lynne.
As many of you know, Lynne will be retiring at the end of this year. Ann (Rinkenberger) will be taking on the Director role. Lynne will continue in an Emeritus role, focusing on donor relationships and artifact management. We are working out the details.I don’t think there is any way that the Museum, Elim Church, and the Scandia community can adequately express our appreciation for the legacy that Lynne has built here, but we will try. We are planning an event the first week of May 2024. There are more details to come.
