New Artifacts Added to Gammelgården’s Site on MNCollections
Since May 2024, Gammelgården Museum has been adding its collections to CollectiveAccess (a collections management system). Prior to that, all the records for the artifacts were kept in multiple binders, divided by type (e.g., artwork, household items, tools).

CollectiveAccess is connected to MNCollections, a digital platform that showcases thousands of artifacts from historical museums and societies throughout Minnesota.

It serves as a centralized online database where various cultural organizations across the state display documentary evidence of Minnesota’s past through their collections.

The platform, provided by the Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums (MALHM), aims to make historical objects, photographs, and records accessible to the public. Many institutions that participate in MNCollections are local history museums, cultural organizations, art galleries, archives, and interpretive centers.

Gammelgården actively adds artifacts to MNCollections . Museum staff have added artifacts from May 2024 and are estimated to document and upload the museum’s collection by December 2027.

During Summer 2025, interns Paige Ewert and Margot Johnson contributed by accessioning, photographing, and uploading information for hundreds of artifacts such as historic books, embroidered frame caps, and waist pockets to CollectiveAccess, making them viewable on MNCollections.

Check back on MNCollections often to see artifacts from Gammelgården’s collection being added to the online platform for people around the world to enjoy.
