Crochet Hook for Lacemaking

In the 1800s, crochet hooks used for lacemaking were made from steel. (Most modern hooks are made of aluminum. When aluminum is thin enough to make lace, it is very bendy which is what you don’t want.)

This sturdy, fine hook was used to crochet lace. It has a very sharp tip which made it easy to get the hook through tiny loops.
