Sami Pillow

This Sami pillow is  made with manufactured wool cloth and braid from the early 2000s. It celebrates the Sami flag colors of blue, yellow, red, and green.

According to the Sami Cultural Center of North America (located in Duluth, Minnesota), the Sami flag represents the Sami people and refers to Nature and the natural world. It was designed by artist Astrid Båhl and was adopted by the Nordic Sami Conference on August 16, 1986, during the Sami cultural awakening in Sápmi.

The flag’s circle represents the sun (red) and the moon (blue). The colors red, blue, yellow, and green are referred to as the “Sami colors” and often are used in making gakti, Sami traditional clothing.
