Traditional Carved Rooster

This traditional carved rooster (tupp) is from the Nusnäs, Dalarna, Sweden area, and is made from wood and painted similarly to the Dala horse.

Carved roosters are usually associated with the celebration of Easter, and remind people that after Peter denied Christ three times, the rooster crowed. Many people who raise and like chickens also have sculptures like these as decorations in their homes.
