Join Natalie for a fun DIY session making your own stylish Swedish-inspired skirt pocket or purse from scratch!
This two-day class with Natalie Norman focuses on making a kjolväskor (a skirt pocket or purse) featuring appliqué and embroidered designs.

Swedish kjolväskor were part of the Swedish folk dräkt (folk dress) and were used to carry oats or salt so the cows would follow the herder home. Today, they may hold a cell phone or car keys.
This practical decorative bag serves as a reminder of heritage and as a focal point of beauty, as it carries your belongings

Sponsored by the Swedish Embassy in Washington, DC, her embroidered work was featured in a traveling exhibition that visited five major American cities and concluded with a 15-month tour in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2019, Natalie received a fellowship from the American Scandinavian Foundation to study a traditional form of folk art. Courses in fritt broderi at Sätergläntan in Dalarna and påsöm at the Mora Folk School have since deepened her embroidery practice and strengthened her desire to share this passion with others.
