Impact Spotlight on Volunteers - Gammelgården Museum

In July, 23 volunteers contributed 141.5 hours to the museum. Since July 1st, these volunteers helped with:

Sewing twill-tape labels with accession numbers into the folk dräkt (clothing and accessories). This is a major project that staff, volunteers, and the Northern Bedrock crew have been working on since January 2026.
Monitoring the bluebird trail by checking on the eggs and chicks in the bluebird houses.
Selling tickets for Running of the Meatballs.
Conducting tours for other volunteers, walk-in visitors, special group tours, and field trips.
The most recent field trip was the largest one to date with 117 students and 16 chaperones!

Planting and watering flowers, vegetables, and herbs in the museum’s gardens.
Raising over $104,000 for the capital campaign, which will fund the restoration of the historic buildings; remove the current emergency exit staircase on the Välkommen Hus that is becoming detached from the building and replace it with a commercial, ADA-compliant staircase; and address ADA accessibility sidewalks and ramps to the historic buildings.
Greeting and welcoming visitors to the museum.
Hosting the History & Heritage Book Club, and bringing treats to share with participants.
