Thank You, Midsommardagen Volunteers!

On Saturday, June 27th, Gammelgården hosted its annual Midsommardagen festival, bringing together over 1,200 people of all ages to experience traditional Swedish music, dance, art, food, and history. This was the highest attendance in the history of the museum!

This event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of 43 museum volunteers and two crews from Sentence to Service (STS) on Friday and Saturday who stepped up in many ways to ensure the event ran smoothly.

From the preparation and set-up during the week leading up to the event to overseeing activities at Midsommardagen to the final clean-up, these volunteers truly were instrumental to the success of this event.

Volunteers greeted guests as they entered the parking lot and in the Välkkommen Hus; oversaw the safety of visitors as they crossed Olinda Trail; and counted attendance.

Others oversaw the children’s hands-on activities and crafts, assisted in the Butik, welcomed vendors and showed them where to set-up their booths, prepared and served lunch and dessert for volunteers, managed the sound system during the afternoon program, and handled the set-up and clean-up of the tents, tables, chairs, and equipment.

Whether keeping the grounds pristine or making presentations, every volunteer played an important role at Midsommardagen. The Gammelgården staff is incredibly grateful to everyone who gave their time and energy to make this annual festival an unforgettable and fun experience!
